VINYL EDDIE NEWSLETTER JUNE 2024

Greeting Pop Pickers,

It’s only 47 weeks to RSD25 so our brows are furrowing again. On the plus side it means we can forget football for another 10 weeks and various dubious politicians of all persuasions for the next 5. Now if the sun would only just show it’s face…

RSD24 was, we think, great. It was reportedly the best for years across the country and it was for us too. You guys turned up in numbers and bought plenty. The last minute arrangements all come together seamlessly and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

We don’t do online shopping but we did move all of the leftovers on e**y; so it was worthwhile all round.

Those of you who see us regularly know our digital capabilities are ‘somewhat rudimentary’. With this in mind it is no surprise we are struggling to update our website without spending thousands on it. The stocklist is proving to be the core of the problem. Something called a plugin went obsolete after 10 years and this screwed us royally.

A bit like the Council and their potholes, we are looking in to it.

Unlike most indie stores, web trading is not the core of our business, you are. And someday, somewhere we will sort it.

Connoisseurs Corner
A fairly quiet month for real rarities. We did get a clean 1969 ‘Let It Bleed’. A lovely ‘Sweetheart of the Rodeo’ from The Byrds and ‘The Hunter’ by Paul Kossof. Otis Redding’s ‘The Dock of the Bay’ on Stax is rare and doesn’t hang around long. For Folk lovers, ‘Solomons Seal’ by Pentangle arrived through our doors in the past few weeks. Northern Soul fans will love ‘Major Lance Live At The Torch’. 7 Year Bitch released their last Grunge record in 2016 which happened to be a red/black split vinyl called ‘Live At Moe’. Based in Seattle, home of Grunge, this sought after record will not look out place next to the more established acts of the genre.
